The challenge

The developer of Hyatt House, an extended-stay hotel in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, made comfort a top priority. Forced air would have meant ductwork that lowered the ceilings or baseboards that blocked the curtain wall, and curtains over each window would have trapped forced air, leaving a cold zone with condensation on the glass.

The system

ThermaRay custom-designed radiant heaters just 2 inches deep, completely hidden by the window valances, so guests never see them. Radiant heat warms the window and the room’s surfaces directly, and in-room controls let guests set the temperature.

“Radiant heating panels offset the heat loss at the window while making the guest experience pleasant, providing them a gentle warmth while sitting on the bed near the curtain wall and window.”
