The project
The Crown Building, originally the Heckscher Building, has stood at Fifth Avenue and 57th Street since 1921. Its restoration turned it into Aman New York: an 83-room hotel with three restaurants and a three-floor spa, plus 22 residences averaging more than 4,300 square feet.
The systems
The engineers chose three ThermaRay systems to meet both the heating and the design requirements:
Radiant ceiling panels hidden above the drywall ceilings heat the residences. Architectural Series metal heaters sit in the ceiling grid in parts of the hotel. And the residences’ primary bathrooms have floor warming.
